In Buddhist meditation, the term monk refers to a state of mind wherein one becomes so distracted by a particular thought, emotion, or sensation that one does not have an objective view of reality.

According to the Buddha, there is no such thing as an objective view of reality because we all experience the world through our own subjective bias. We’re all just living different versions of reality which are influenced by our thoughts and behaviors. I also think that monk mode is what we’re in right now as we’re all sitting in front of our computers. It’s just a little more comfortable in certain situations.

I think that I would enjoy a bit of monk mode as well. To me it seems like a more comfortable mode that isn’t so dependent on your screen’s resolution. I find it to be a little more like relaxing and just having a break from all that stress, especially when your computer is occupied. I imagine if you have a computer and a mouse and all that, it doesn’t exactly feel like you’re in a meditation session.
